Encounters with deep time lie at the heart of an Amangiri experience. The Grand Staircase is an immense sequence of sedimentary rocks stretching from Bryce Canyon National Park through Zion and into Grand Canyon National Park, revealing over 1.8 billion years of earth history.
The resort is tucked into a protected valley with sweeping views over colorful, stratified rock towards the Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument. Whether exploring the region’s iconic landscapes, ascending one of five on-property via ferratas or relaxing beside the resort’s Entrada sandstone pool, one senses the passage of geologic time and Man’s very recent appearance in the 4.5 billion year story of planet Earth. Adventure Partners began its collaboration with Amangiri during pre-opening, and today provides a rich array of activities and interpretive services.
As a young boy, Ted Turner always displayed an affinity for the wonders of nature. Later in life he undertook a ground-breaking conservation project designed to restore habitats, conserve threatened and imperiled species, and increase biodiversity on millions of acres of private North American landscape.
Ted Turner Expeditions was born to provide guests with individually crafted nature and wildlife experiences combined with memorable stays in various Ted Turner-owned hotels, wilderness lodges and homes -- to which only friends and family have previously been invited. Created by Ted as a pioneering investment in balancing conservation and economic sustainability, Ted Turner Expeditions has selected Adventure Partners as its principal collaborator in the design and delivery of these exclusive ecotourism programs.
The landscape of New Mexico is itself a work of art. Many kinds of creative people have come to be inspired by its scenery and culture in their own pursuit of beauty. Georgia O’Keeffe couldn’t quite put her finger on what drew her to this place, maybe it was something in the air. She said that the sky, the stars and the wind were somehow different.
Adventure Partners, in collaboration with the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe, has created the ideal luxury basecamp for exclusive, signature excursions in celebration of the traditions and natural beauty of this multi-cultural destination. The partnership includes an on-site “Adventure Center” staffed with local experts to develop custom itineraries and share expert travel advice.
Italian for “iron road,” via ferratas consist of rungs, suspension bridges, steel cables and other thrilling aerial elements—all firmly anchored in dramatic geographic contours and mountaineering tradition.
Via ferratas were constructed during the First World War in the Dolomite region of Italy to aid the movement of mountain troops. Today, over a thousand recreational routes have been developed throughout the alpine communities of Europe, as their popularity and benefits to tourism have been recognized.
With the passage of the Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act, guided via ferrata ascents are an exciting attraction for resorts to share with summer visitors seeking authentic and earned experiences.
Adventure Partners Attractions, LLC (APA,) with our collaborator Canyon Bridge, LLC, evaluates, designs, engineers, and installs via ferratas on both public and private lands which meet all USFS and EN standards. APA has developed and operates six via ferrata routes with a 223-foot suspension bridge on private land at the Amangiri Resort (UT) and is installing six via ferrata routes with a 120-foot suspension bridge for the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (Bridger Teton National Forest, WY).
Adventure Partners holds commercial use authorizations, special use permits and right of access agreements on millions of acres of iconic American lands. Resource protection, quality interpretation and guest safety are shared goals with our public land partners.
